4 hikes: which one will be your favourite route?

01: Sassolungo Roundtour

Duration: 3.5 hours
Distance: 7.4 km
Elevation gain: 730 m

This circular route takes you all the way round the Sassolungo: first through the impressive Stone City, then up to the Toni Demetz Hut via the legendary chairlift, and on down through the Sassolungo Pass. You then take a leisurely walk to the Comici Hut and back to the hotel. Amidst rock, alpine meadows and sweeping panoramic views, you’ll experience one of the region’s most beautiful Dolomite landscapes. With a walking time of just under three and a half hours, it is the most challenging of the four routes – but thanks to the Sassolungo Lift Pass, it remains well within your reach. Allow plenty of time: the views are simply too beautiful not to stop and admire them frequently.

Good to know: The longest of the four tours, for experienced hikers in good physical condition.

02: Passo Sella Direct Route

Duration: 35 minutes
Distance: 1.3 km
Elevation gain: 170 m

A fascinating walk through the surreal rocky landscape of the Stone City. The walk is short but offers stunning scenery. At just 35 minutes’ walking time, it’s perfect for a relaxing morning or a leisurely end to the day.

Tip: The short distance and moderate elevation gain make this ideal for families.

03: Comici Panorama Route

Duration: 35 minutes
Distance: 1.5 km
Elevation gain: 100 m (downhill)

This panoramic walk rewards you with sweeping views of the breathtaking scenery of the Sella massif. The route is mostly downhill and technically easy. In return, you’ll be treated to a fabulous view of the striking peaks of the Sella Group.

In short: Minimal effort for maximum panoramic views.

04: Comici Direct Route

Duration: 35 minutes
Distance: 1 km
Elevation gain: 100 m (uphill)

Can’t wait to finally visit the legendary Comici Hut? Then book one of the much sought-after tables there straight away and follow this route: this short walk takes you directly to the Rifugio Emilio Comici at 2,154 metres in just over half an hour.

Did you know? The Comici Hut is part of the Fil da Mont family.
