Dream days under endless blue skies

From pale rock faces to the magical glow of Enrosadira

A summer holiday in South Tyrol wouldn’t be complete without the Dolomites. Their distinctive pale, jagged peaks rise right behind our hotel, changing colour as the light shifts throughout the day. The choice is yours: hiking, mountain biking, climbing and countless other activities start right on our doorstep. And with the exclusive Sassolungo Lift Pass, available only here, you can enjoy free rides on three mountain lifts.

At the foot of the Sassolungo

Right in the heart of the mountains

Sassolungo towers majestically and silently above Plan de Gralba. Its breathtaking presence is an invitation to hop on the mountain lift after breakfast and discover the extraordinary landscapes of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. Flower-filled alpine meadows, deep green forests and striking, rugged rock formations await you.

Hiking and biking

Always on the move

Countless hiking and mountain biking routes begin right outside our door. Whether you prefer leisurely forest tracks, winding mountain trails or rugged rocky terrain, you’ll find the perfect adventure here. And if you’d rather not explore alone, you can hire a guide or join one of the guided tours organised by Val Gardena Active.

Sassolungo Lift Pass

Your head start in the mountains

Right beside Fil da Mont, the Piz Seteur gondola and Piz Sella cable car are ready to whisk you up to lofty heights. With the Sassolungo Lift Pass, included free of charge with your stay, you can enjoy unlimited rides on the Piz Seteur 1, Forcella Sassolungo and Gran Paradiso lifts. The mountains are quite literally at your feet!

We arrived with our mountain bikes and had the gondola to the Sella (paradise) right outside the hotel. [...] The owner gives you great tips for cycling – simply brilliant.

In summer an ideal glorious starting point for walkers and mountain lovers.

There is a cable car very close to the hotel. You can get a free ticket there and head straight out on your hike or cycling tour.

Why is Plan de Gralba particularly well suited to a summer holiday?

A truly special place for a summer escape

Plan de Gralba is an idyllic part of Selva di Val Gardena, attracting visitors in summer who seek peace, quiet and a close connection with nature. Instead of noise and crowds, you’ll find yourself surrounded by lush greenery and captivated by breathtaking views of the Dolomites. At 1,800 metres above sea level, summer temperatures are pleasantly mild, and the mountains invite you to enjoy a wonderful variety of outdoor activities.

How long does the summer season in Val Gardena last?

Long, but mild

The first alpine flowers of the Dolomites often emerge while the last patches of snow are still melting away. By late May or early June, temperatures begin to rise noticeably, even at higher altitudes. The days are perfect for hiking and cycling, while the evenings and nights are wonderfully fresh and restful. Fine weather and spectacular long-distance views often continue well into October, when the forests begin to turn their autumn colours.

Is Hotel Fil da Mont suitable for a hiking holiday?

The mountains are calling

You can leave the hotel in your hiking boots each morning and set off straight from the doorstep. Or get a head start by taking one of the two cable cars right beside the hotel. The Sassolungo area offers an incredible variety of routes, from easy walks across alpine meadows and panoramic high-altitude hikes to challenging summit ascents. And after all that effort, what could be better than a well-earned stop at an alpine mountain hut, such as our Rifugio Comici?.

Is Hotel Fil da Mont suitable for a cycling holiday?

We are an Approved Bike Area

Whether you’re a professional downhill rider or prefer a more leisurely cycling holiday, our extensive network of routes and comprehensive bike services make exploring on two wheels a breeze! The bike park and two lifts are conveniently located right outside the hotel. Inside, you’ll find bike storage, a washing station, information and maps. And if you fancy some expert guidance, professional guides are on hand to take you on tours or help you improve your technique.

Which other outdoor activities are popular in summer?

The choice is yours

There’s certainly no chance of getting bored on a summer holiday in the Dolomites! When you’ve had your fill of hiking and cycling, get closer to the rock face with a climbing adventure, admire the mountains from above while paragliding, or explore treetop adventure parks and zip lines. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, the region’s panoramic golf courses are the perfect place to unwind.

Are guided summer activities available?

Yes, with Val Gardena Active!

Most activities in Val Gardena’s summer programme are free of charge. Look forward to guided hikes and cycling tours, fitness and wellness classes, cultural tours, arts and crafts workshops, cooking classes and a varied programme for children, including taster climbing sessions, campfires and visits to local farms.

What is the Sassolungo Lift Pass?

You’ll only find it here!

During the summer season, all our guests receive a Sassolungo Lift Pass for the entire duration of their stay. It gives you unlimited free rides on the Piz Seteur 1, Forcella Sassolungo and Gran Paradiso lifts. The Piz Seteur lift starts right beside Hotel Fil da Mont, and a ride on the unique stand-up cabin lift at Forcella Sassolungo is an experience you really shouldn’t miss!
