Your ticket to winter bliss
The cold season warms the heart
The first snowflakes to fall over Val Gardena in winter envelop the valley in a peaceful hush. The forests look like something from a fairy tale, almost too beautiful to be real. Yet that first snowfall also promises exhilarating descents, panoramic tours high in the mountains and carefree toboggan rides. And here at Fil da Mont? Cosy evenings in our warm dining room, accompanied by delicious culinary treats.

Nature and modern facilities
From our doorstep, you can head straight onto the Sellaronda and explore many of the finest ski areas in South Tyrol within Dolomiti Superski. The conditions are also ideal for almost every kind of winter sport, from cross-country skiing to snowshoeing. Our region is renowned for its reliable snow conditions, while evenings here in Plan de Gralba remain wonderfully peaceful.
A full 4 months of winter magic
The ski slopes and lifts in Val Gardena are generally open from early December to early April, although the best natural snowfall usually comes between January and March. At the beginning and end of the season, we also offer special holiday packages for skiers.
We’re fortunate
The high altitude of the Dolomites usually ensures plenty of natural snowfall. And even when nature doesn’t quite deliver, the fun on the slopes can continue, as 98% of the runs can be covered with artificial snow. If you’re dreaming of hiking or cross-country skiing through a landscape blanketed in snow, your best chances are between January and March.
Skiers love us!
Our hotel is perfectly suited to a ski holiday. Its location right beside the lifts in Plan de Gralba makes it the natural choice for anyone looking to ski in Val Gardena. As our guest, you’re just a few metres away from the lifts, the Sellaronda and 1,200 km of pistes in Dolomiti Superski, Europe’s largest ski area, all accessible with a single ski pass.
Discover the most beautiful places in the Dolomites
Selva di Val Gardena lies directly on the Sellaronda, the famous ski circuit that can be tackled in either a clockwise or anticlockwise direction. For skiers who love variety, there’s always somewhere new to explore: head towards Passo Sella and Val di Fassa, ski over to Santa Cristina for the Saslong and Seceda, or discover other renowned ski and hiking areas within Dolomiti Superski, such as Alpe di Siusi and Alta Badia.
No travelling required
You can join the Sellaronda directly from our hotel in Plan de Gralba. This 40 km ski circuit takes you around the Sella massif. We recommend the green route, which runs anticlockwise from Plan de Gralba to Passo Sella, on to Arabba, over Passo Campolongo to Corvara, across Passo Gardena and finally back to Plan de Gralba.
The slopes and lifts are right on our doorstep
Fil da Mont, freely translated from Ladin as ‘mountain rope’, refers to the mountain cable car, and two lifts start right beside our hotel. You can probably guess what that means: after breakfast, simply pull on your ski boots and hop straight onto the lift. And in the evening, your final turns of the day can bring you right back to the hotel.
