Skis, snow and smiles
Ski holiday in the Dolomites right by the lift
Before you stretches a beautiful, wide ski slope, with the mighty rocky peaks of the Dolomites rising on either side and a deep blue sky above. Who could resist the temptation of a thrilling descent? At Fil da Mont, breakfast, the ski lift, the slopes and a cosy après-ski stop at our bar are all just a few steps apart. This is how wonderful a ski holiday in the Dolomites can be.

And that’s not all!
Boutique Hotel Fil da Mont is the perfect example of a true ski hotel. Our historic hotel was established right beside the ski lifts in Plan de Gralba. From our doorstep, you’re just a few metres away from the lifts, the Sellaronda and 1,200 km of pistes in Dolomiti Superski, Europe’s largest ski area, all accessible with a single ski pass.
4 months of snow-filled fun
The ski season in Val Gardena runs from early December to early April. We recommend checking the latest opening times for the pistes and lifts before heading out for a day on the slopes. At the beginning and end of the season, we also offer special holiday packages for skiers.
Falling flakes + 630 snow cannons
We’re usually blessed with plenty of natural snow, but should conditions ever fall short, 98% of the pistes can be covered by artificial snow. If you’re dreaming of a landscape blanketed in snow, your best chance is between January and March. One thing you can always count on, though, is the pistes being ready for you.
It’s what we do best!
Our name already says it all: Fil da Mont freely translated from Ladin as ‘mountain rope’, is a reference to the mountain cable car. And it’s right beside our hotel. Here, just minutes separate your last sip of coffee from your first turn on the slopes. And in the evening, it’s just as easy to swap your skis for a drink in our bar.
A whole world of skiing awaits
Selva di Val Gardena lies right on the Sellaronda, so you can set off on this famous ski circuit in either direction. And on the other days? Head towards Passo Sella and Val di Fassa, make your way to Santa Cristina for the Saslong and Seceda, or explore other ski areas within Dolomiti Superski, such as Alpe di Siusi and Alta Badia.
You’re already there
You can join the Sellaronda directly from our hotel in Plan de Gralba. This 40 km ski circuit takes you around the Sella massif. We recommend the green route, travelling anticlockwise: Plan de Gralba -> Passo Sella -> Arabba -> Passo Campolongo -> Corvara -> Passo Gardena -> Plan de Gralba. Allow around 6 hours for the full circuit, including a lunch break.
All abilities welcome
Of the 181 km of pistes in the Val Gardena ski area, 52 km are classified as blue (easy). Selva di Val Gardena and Monte Pana, above Santa Cristina, are particularly family-friendly, with several beginner lifts, short runs and ski schools. We’ll be delighted to recommend the best slopes for your ability.
No lengthy queues
As you’d expect from a proper ski hotel, you can purchase your ski pass right here at our doorstep and set off for a relaxed day on the slopes. Simply choose between the pass for Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusi or the Dolomiti Superski pass, which gives you access to all 12 ski areas in the Dolomites.
Just a few steps away
Even if you haven’t brought your own skis or snowboard, you can hire everything you need for a perfect day in the snow just a few metres from Fil da Mont. Skis, snowboards, poles, boots and helmets are available for both adults and children.
Enjoy a drink right here with us
Plan de Gralba isn’t a noisy party resort, but the warm, sociable atmosphere of the Fil da Mont Bar is just the place to raise a glass to a great day on the slopes. Alternatively, join us for a stylish aperitif at our Emilio Comici mountain hut, at 2,154 metres at the foot of Sassolungo.
